The JPFA will hold a new “JPFA Interactive Onsite Training Course on Plant Factories with Artificial Lighting (PFALs)” in English on Oct. 7-9, 2024.
The course content is carefully designed to provide a comprehensive and intensive learning experience, ensuring you acquire theories, practices, and knowledge on PFALs and technologies of Japanese agriculture.
With a perfect balance of engaging lectures, interactive workshops/discussions, excursions to prominent PFAL facilities, and a visit to the Agriculture Expo, you will discover a world of efficient learning opportunities that will inspire and empower you.

This course comprises Pre-learning, Lectures/Workshops/Discussions at the JPFA, an Excursion by bullet train and charted bus, and a Visit to the Agriculture Expo.
1. Online pre-learning: Introductory course
The online Introductory Course for elementary theory and practice of PFALs, basic knowledge of cultivation and operational management, and keys to business success. You can access them one month before the onsite training course starts.
2. Interactive lectures and discussions at the JPFA
The lectures quickly review essential concepts and cover the latest industry situation. A new lecturer for the JPFA training, Shoko Hikosaka, Associate Professor at Chiba University will be joining. One of her long-standing research topics is ‘Efficient production of value-added plant under controlled environment’ for horticulture crops, field crops, medicinal plants, genetically modified plants, etc., and she will share her valuable knowledge during the session. Professionals from the university and industries will also conduct practical and interactive workshops and discussions with participants. You will have a chance to see Japanese PFAL-cultivated strawberries and Wasabi as well as leafy greens during the session.
3. Excursion by a bullet train and chartered bus (Optional)
Our exclusive excursion takes you to the large-scale commercial PFALs in Chiba and Shizuoka, Japan. These remarkable facilities boast years of successful farming operations, unrivaled expertise, and a wealth of experience. You can discuss with operation managers and gain invaluable insights and the secrets to their long-standing success.
