He holds a PhD from Wageningen University & Research where his doctoral research examined the physiological and biochemical responses of medicinal cannabis to light quality, light intensity, and the interaction with additional environmental parameters.
Mexx currently serves as Technical Solutions Manager at Dutch Lighting Innovations (DLI), a Netherlands-based manufacturer of advanced supplemental LED lighting systems for the global greenhouse industry. With over 25 years of experience in the development, production, and sales of horticultural lighting fixtures worldwide, DLI is recognised for redefining greenhouse grow-light technology with high-quality, energy-efficient LED systems. In his role, Mexx advises commercial growers and agribusiness partners internationally on lighting strategy, HPS-to-LED transitions, and the energy balance implications of modern lighting systems.
His work bridges fundamental plant science with large-scale practical implementation, making him a valued voice in the global conversation on sustainable, high-performance crop production.
