“Resource Use Efficiency and Environmental Impact of Plant Factories”

Dr Giuseppina Pennisi is a Tenure Track Researcher at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Italy). She received a PhD from the University of Turin (Italy). She was co-convener of the 3rd International Workshop on Vertical Farming (VertiFarm2024), organized under the aegis of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). She will be co-convener of the Symposium (S12) of the II International Symposium on Urban Horticulture for Sustainable Food Security: Toward Food-Secure Cities (UrbanFood2026) at the 32nd International Horticultural Congress (IHC 2026). She co-authored more than 80 indexed scientific publications. Her research focuses on plant physiology, vertical farming, artificial lighting, and hydroponics.

国際園芸学会（ISHS）の後援のもと開催されたVertiFarm2024（第3回植物工場国際ワークショップ）では共同コンビーナーを務めました。また、第32回国際園芸学会議（IHC2026）において開催される「持続可能な食料安全保障のための都市園芸に関する第2回国際シンポジウム：食料安全保障が確立された都市を目指して（UrbanFood2026）」（S12）でも共同コンビーナーを務める予定です。
主な研究分野は、植物生理学、植物工場、植物栽培における光環境および水耕栽培で、これまでに80本以上の査読付き科学論文を共著しています。
