Eriko Hibi
Director, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office in Japan

Ms Hibi has 30 years of UN professional experiences. She joined FAO HQ in 2011 as Senior Strategy and Planning Officer in the Office of Strategy, Planning and Resources Management. Since then, she has served in Damascus, Syria, as FAO Representative, and in Samoa as Subregional Coordinator for the Pacific Islands and FAO Representative for Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Since September 2020, Ms. Hibi has been the FAO Liaison Office Director in Yokohama Japan.
Prior to joining FAO, Ms Hibi worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for almost 16 years, where she served as Regional Programme Coordinator for the Asia and the Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok; Programme Specialist in the Humanitarian Response Unit at UNFPA’s New York headquarters; Deputy UNFPA Representative for Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan based in Tashkent; and Programme Officer in New York for the agency’s Africa and Asia/Pacific Divisions.
Ms Hibi, a Japanese national, holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, in the United States; a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom; and a Bachelor of Laws from Sophia University in Japan.

国際連合食糧農業機関（FAO）駐日連絡事務所, 所長

FAO駐日連絡事務所長に2020年9月13日付で就任。2011年にFAO入職、ローマ本部戦略企画室にシニア・オフィサーとしての2年間の勤務の後、2013年からは紛争下のシリア事務所の所長、また2016年からはサモア独立国アピアのFAO大洋州事務所長として、大洋州14カ国を対象としてより栄養に配慮したフードシステムの構築貢献に努める。

FAO入職以前は、国連人口基金（UNFPA）のニューヨーク本部、ウズベキスタン事務所、アジア太平洋地域事務所に勤めるなど、国連経験は約30年に渡る。

上智大学法学部で法学士、英国レディング大学大学院で国際関係学修士号、米ワシントンDCジョンズホプキンズ大学大学院SAISで国際関係学修士号を取得。
