Claudia Philpot is the project manager of the EDEN LUNA project at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Bremen, Germany. The German Aerospace Center is a non-profit organization providing research and development work in aeronautics, space, energy, transport and security. Before joining the team focusing on bio-regenerative life support systems (BLSS), she gained her expertise in Industry and Research specializing as a satellite operations engineer and served as an assistant delegate for Germany within the ESA programmatic ISS utilization board.
As part of the Planetary Infrastructure Group at DLR she published multiple research papers and has been leading the EDEN LUNA plant cultivation project which is based on the EDEN ISS legacy, operated at the German Neumayer Station III in Antarctica. She plays a central role in combining and maturing highly automated BLSS technology development with space crop research for safe food production for future human space exploration vehicles and planetary outposts in close cooperation between industry and academia.
