5/16(木)に、Ohio Controlled Environment Agricultural Center (OHCEAC)を主導されているオハイオ州立大学教授で当会理事の久保田 智恵利先生が、一緒に活動されている米国OptimIAメンバーの研究者ご一行と柏の葉キャンパスを訪問されました。午前中にキャンパス内にて千葉大学およびコンソーシアム企業による共同実証研究の施設見学を行った後、午後にJPFA x OptimIA コラボレーション・フォーラムを開催しました。米国側の研究者や複数の会員企業がミニプレゼン、ディスカッションなどを行いました。

OptimIAプロジェクトは、環境制御・植物生理学者、農業工学者、農業経済学者などから成る米国の複数大学による植物工場の共同研究・普及プロジェクトです。今回のフォーラムは、環境制御型農業における米国の専門家や会員同士が直接お会いして議論できる貴重な機会で、自己紹介、質疑応答や議論が活発に行われました。素晴らしい参加者に恵まれ、大変有意義な交流の場となりました。

On May 16, Dr. Chieri Kubota, a professor at Ohio State University who leads the Ohio Controlled Environment Agricultural Center (OHCEAC), visited Kashiwanoha Campus with OptimIA members. After the tour of the Consortium and Chiba University’s joint demonstration research facilities, the JPFA held the JPFA×OptimIA Collaboration Forum where the OptimIA researchers and JPFA member companies gave lightning talks and discussions.

The OptimIA project is a multi-state university research and extension collaboration among controlled-environment plant physiologists, agricultural engineers, and agricultural economists. The forum was a valuable opportunity for the JPFA members to discuss directly with U.S. experts in CEA and other JPFA members. The participants actively introduced themselves and joined the Q&A and discussion. We were blessed with excellent participants and had a very productive exchange.
